Fly A Kite
In 1962, in a
small shop in Manhattan, Go Fly a Kite was born. In the years since their
opening, they have evolved into the world's top kitemakers. In 2006, they are
once again proud to bring you an incredible assortment of new hot sellers.
Go Fly A Kite's new Power Flyer™ rubber band powered gliders are simply
incredible! Wind up the propeller and they can fly up to 200 yards while
reaching altitudes of 50 feet!
Create an interactive experience with any kite utilizing our new Timer Drop
Mechanisms. Set the timer, launch your kite, and catch the cargo that is
released from the sky! Drop candy, confetti, parachutes and gliders all from
your existing kite.
They have expanded almost all categories, including our #1 selling kite style,
Super Flyers™. They will find a wonderful new assortment of designs including
the top licenses, SpongeBob™, Spider-Man™, and Dora™.
Their new Storm Series™ Stunter System will revolutionize the way stunt kites
are sold. They have created radical new sail graphics with a matching carrying
case. Offered along with the kites are Performance Booster kits that allow the
people to upgrade their kite before leaving the store! Performance Boosters
include a First Flites kit, a Team Flying kit, a Stack Flying kit, and a Field
Repair kit. All sets are packed in cool matching bags. These Performance Booster
kits will increase sales while providing a more satisfying experience to the
pilot.
In 1962, together with her husband Surendra Bahudar, Andrea Davenport opened the
first kite shop in the USA.
They named it Go Fly a Kite. Located in Manhattan, the store sold kites imported
from around the world, with a
specialty in Indian Fighters. The success of this kite store led to the opening
of other kite shops across
North America. These new stores needed kites to fill their walls, so Go Fly a
Kite became a distributor of
the kites they were offering in their store. In the 1970s, manufacturing became
a new goal of Andreas.
Andrea and second husband Mark Skwarek moved the operation to East Haddam, CT,
and turned Americas first kite shop into one of the world’s leading kite
manufacturers. We have evolved and improved in the many years since their proud
beginnings.
Today, Go Fly a Kite continues to set the standards of excellence in the kite
trade. Home of the kite worlds top designers such as Joel Scholz and Randy Tom,
kiting innovations are born in the design rooms of Go Fly a Kite, and released
to the skies for millions to enjoy.
