Jay Jay
the Jet Plane
Jay Jay The
Jet Plane follows the exciting adventures of a perky and curious six-year-old
jet plane, Jay Jay, and his airplane friends. They live and play at Tarrytown
Airport, a place where imagination takes flight!
Each Jay Jay episode includes valuable life lessons for young children. They
learn important lessons about cooperation, teamwork, responsibility and science
and nature. Jay Jay currently airs on PBS Kids and on PBS Kids Sprout in the
United States. Jay Jay also airs on other leading networks worldwide.
Jay Jay has just the right combination of curiosity and energy. When it comes to
friendships, Jay Jay is true blue. Jay Jay's best friend, Tracy, is a truly
gifted flyer. Well-spoken and funny, she is rapidly developing grace and style
to go along with her other considerable talents.
Snuffy is the youngest plane of the group. His specialty is skywriting. He
always has the sniffles and when he speaks, he sounds stuffed-up. Yet, he
manages to overcome his fears and move on to the next challenge.
Big Jake can always be relied upon to get the job done. Every young plane should
have a friend and role model like Big Jake.
Revvin' Evan, the official fire truck of Tarrytown Airport, is always there to
lend a helping hand. He doesn't fly, but with his over-abundance of energy, he
almost seems to have wings!
Old Oscar is a spry old biplane. In his youth, he was a barnstorming biplane who
performed stunt tricks. He's a great storyteller and chips in a few important
lessons for the young airplanes.
Herky is a high-energy helicopter who is always in a hurry. This sometimes gets
him in the wrong place at the wrong time. But with his sunny personality, Herky
is a joy to be around.
Savannah is a sleek, supersonic jet who speaks in a soft, Southern voice. Very
gracious and down-to-earth, she is very happy to be a member of the Tarrytown
family.
Tuffy the tiny tow truck is full of confidence. She never gives up, no matter
how heavy her load.
David Michel, Jay Jay's Creator and executive producer, is a serial
entrepreneur. He grew up in a small mid-western town not unlike Tarrytown. After
college, graduate school and various jobs, he founded WonderWings.com
Entertainment in 1994 with the goal of creating a high-quality non-violent
series for TV's youngest viewers. The genesis of airplane characters arose from
David's "million-miler" status flying on business trips for his previous job.
Michel's then-3-year-old son John was fascinated by his Dad's aviation stories.
WonderWings.com Entertainment sold thousands of videos directly to consumers and
garnered 12 national awards for excellence in children's programming. "A perfect
companion for preschoolers," said USA Today. Seven years later, JAY JAY THE JET
PLANE premiered on PBS Kids as a daily "Ready to Learn" series. Michel is
delighted that the JAY JAY THE JET PLANE series on PBS showcases ground-breaking
3D animation while maintaining the charm and simplicity of the original shows.
David lives with his family in Dallas, Texas, where he manages a corporate
wellness company called WinningHabits that he founded in 2000.
