Ravensburger
In the years between 1953 and 1963, the company’s emphasis began to change in line with increased distribution and a developing market putting games in the fore-ground of the brand. In 1959, the game “Memory®” was introduced and has been sold worldwide over 50 million times in various versions; in 1960, the game “Malefiz” ("Barricade")was released and also belongs to the international classics from Ravensburger with over 1.2 million copies.

At this time, new product lines were established: in 1960, the first hobby and handcraft games for children in easy to use packages were distributed; 1963 saw the introduction of the Ravensburger Paperback Books which remain the most important range of paperback books for children in Europe today. In 1964, puzzles were created and probably contributed the most to the expansion of the Ravensburger brand. Through the puzzle, Ravensburger is the market leader in Europe today. Each year, approx. 10 million puzzles are produced.

Since the beginning of the 60’s, the game area has surpassed the book area in terms of turnover. In 1977, the two areas were made into two separate companies with their own distribution departments. The puzzles are the basis for the distribution in the rest of Europe as they are not dependent on language versions. Since 1964, subsidiaries have been located in The Netherlands, Switzerland, France, Italy, Austria and Great Britain.

Today, Ravensburger products are exported to over 50 countries worldwide. The markets of Scandinavia, Greece, USA, Canada, Japan and Australia are represented by exclusive agents.
The Games Company also is committed to the Eastern European market with joint ventures in Poland and the Czech Republic.

The Top-list of international game titles along with Memory®” and “Malefiz” are: "Das ver-rückte Labyrinth" (6 million copies sold), "Sagaland" (4 mil.), "Scotland Yard" (3.5 Mil), "Tempo, kleine Schnecke" (1.2 Mil.), "Nilpferd in der Achterbahn" (over 1 mil.), "Labyrinth der Meister" (1 mil.); and not to forget the original sellers: "Reversi" (product since 1893 ) and "Fang den Hut" (since 1927).
